Next week we will be at Wyndham Cache restaurant to see the Presidential handover from Graham Roper to Brian Ahmed.

It promises to be a great night with good food, good fellowship and great entertainment.....and a few surprises.

See you there.

FASHIONS ON THE LAKE FUND RAISER

Champagne Thursday Foundation is teaming up again with Rotary Laverton Point Cook for its annual Fashions on the Lake event at Sanctuary Lakes Function Centre & Lakeview Restaurant, 70 Greg Norman Drive, Point Cook on Saturday 31st August starting at 7pm. Proceeds from the function will go to Fight Cancer Foundation.

The fashions on the runway this year will be provided by Kerrie from Gracie’s and award winning milliner Michelle Robinson.

Early bird tickets are $65 each. Entry includes a delicious 2-course dinner plus champagne at the table.

Last years event sold out quickly, so grab your friends and grab a table. There will be loads of prizes, raffles and a few special giveaways throughout the night.

Hope to see you there!

IN BRIEF........
  • Footy Tipping - Jason Daddy was the only person who picked North Melbourne to beat Richmond. A brave selection but tempered with a little bias. 10 tipsters selected 7 out of 9 winners. Graham Roper is still out in front with 67 points followed by Mary Maguire (66) and Marty Vaina, Ann Smith and Ian Hovey (64). Watch out Tiger!

  • Good to see our old friend Lorry Rowe at the last meeting.

  • The next Bunnings BBQ will be on Thursday 20th June. Geoff Smith would love to have your participation. Let him know if you can assist.

  • As a prelude to next week's presentation at the Changeover Night, outgoing President Graham summarised the financial contributions we have made to various organisations throughout the 2018-19 Rotary year. The total of donations is an impressive $63,409. Here is a list:

    • $250 - Andi Treloar - to support her in the supply of free food for the homeless.
    • $100 - Blue Ribbon Foundation
    • $854 - Cancer Council of Victoria
    • $2,000 - Dreambuilders Transformations
    • $6,000 - End Trachoma
    • $1,000 - Les Porter Bike Ride
    • $500 - RAWCS
    • $1,500 - ROCAN Trust
    • $520 - The Science Experience
    • $1,000 - Uniting Church Wyndham
    • $3,000 - Western Emergency Relief Network (WERN)
    • $1,000 - Wyndham Central College
    • $520 - Essay Competition prizes
    • $165 - Rotary Women's Breakfast
    • $2,000 - Apprentice Scholarships
    • $20,000 - Furniture for the new Dementia Unit at Manor Court Aged Care
    • $1,000 - ARDOC
    • $1,000 - Wyndham Men's Shed
    • $2,000 - The Smith Family
    • $5,000 - Werribee Mercy Hospital Mental Health Program
    • $2,000 - Kianh Foundation in Vietnam
President Graham expressed his pride in the fund-raising work we have done during the year to enable us to contribute funds to these worthy causes.

  • Upcoming Meetings in June:

    • Tuesday 11th June - Club Changeover at Wyndham Cache. Click here to see the invitation from Brian and Nuge.

    • Tuesday 18th June - Guest Speaker - Linden Smith - talking about the Youth Referral and Independent Persons Program.

    • Tuesday 25th June - Club Vision brainstorming session.

  • The Bulletin Editor got caught off-guard at the last meeting and was captured on camera by Wendy Roper who threatened serious physical harm if the picture wasn't published. So, in the interest of avoiding a thrashing from Wendy and to pad out the Bulletin with trivia on a slow news week, here it is.
